The tranquil and beautiful
island of Bonaire is a nature lover's paradise peopled by friendly
folk. Surrounded by the blue Caribbean, it is a natural watersports
Mecca. The superb sea and weather conditions provide for great
scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, and simple beach relaxing.
Recognized as a world leader in environmental conservation,
Bonaire seriously protects and conserves its precious sea and wild
life. Its spectacular coral reefs are a true haven for a myriad
of sea creatures. And, 146 species of birds, including the famed
Flamingo and the unique Lora, are living proof of the Bonairean
integrity in island conservation.
Bonaire is one of the six islands that form the distinctive
Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Recently, however,
Bonaire made dramatic political decisions by choosing to step out
of the Netherlands Antilles and go on as a “municipality” of
The Netherlands and the European Community. Since then, investments
and real estate prices are on the rise and are expected to continue
doing so.
Good air connections
with the USA, Europe, and Latin America enhance life on Bonaire
and encourage a healthy flow of visitors to the island where
many of the inhabitants are multi-lingual, speaking English, Dutch,
Papiamentu, and Spanish.
